Breaking: PDP to choose Anambra governorship candidate August 24

The PDP said it is ready to win the election.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated its intention and preparedness to win the November governorship election in Anambra State.
The PDP chairman, Bamanga Tukur, stated this on Thursday at a meeting with stakeholders and leaders of the party in Anambra.
The meeting, held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, also fixed the timetable for the party’s primaries for the election.
The timetable shows that the sale and return of the Expression of Interest form will hold between July 18 and 19; while the form will cost N1 million each.
The sale and return of nomination forms will hold from August 1-5, while the price of the form is yet to be fixed.
The state congress to pick a candidate or conduct possible run-off will hold on August 24, while the party will submit its candidate’s name on August 30.

Mr. Tukur, in his opening remarks, said there will no imposition of any candidate for the election and assured of a transparent process.
Anambra State is currently led by Peter Obi, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA; while the yet-to-be registered All Progressives Congress has declared that it would use the Anambra election to show its readiness for 2015.
