The abductors of Mrs Augusta Douglas Ayam, sister to the
Special Adviser to the President, Documentation and Strategy, Mr Oronto
Douglas, have demanded N500 million as ransom.
She was kidnapped in Bayelsa State by unknown gunmen.
The abductors made the demand when they eventually contacted
the family.
The kidnap occurred almost one year after the burial of her
father at which the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mr Patrick Yakowa, and the
Former National Security Adviser to the President, Gen Andrew Azazi, lost their
lives in a helicopter crash.
A family source said the kidnappers called with a Glo mobile
number to make the demand.
Police spokesman in Bayelsa State, Mr Alex Akhigbe,
confirmed the latest development. He said the police were doing all they could
to secure her immediate release without harm.
