Nigerian women are being empowered- Minister


The Minister of Women Affairs, Zainab Maina, on Tuesday stated that her ministry is doing everything possible to empower women at all levels for the good of Nigeria.

The minister was speaking at the ongoing ministerial platform in Abuja.
“We have recognized that our women are poor especially our sisters in the rural areas and we are working towards empowering [them],” Mrs. Maina said.
She stated that within two years of the Goodluck Jonathan administration, over 5,000 women groups and cooperatives have received N27.2 million out of which 6, 000 jobs were created.

Today, the Nigerian Woman is making history, not of emancipation or pains or repression, but of defined solid contributions to nation building, of partnership in the development of human capacity, and trail-blazing exploits in leadership across sect oral fronts. Ladies and gentlemen, today`s history book page is going to be an eloquent rendition of the courage, tenacity, forthrightness of the Nigerian Woman, to step out to fulfill her role in the society as a worthy block fit for our collective national engagement. Brilliant, resourceful, creative, diligent, hardworking, focused, determined, humble and largely unassuming, the society has identified these beacons of enterprise and home builders which the Maritime Management Series (MMS) plus Weekly newspaper has the privilege of bringing to the fore under the brand title of Woman of Fortune.
